Ski Instructor Course Diary – Week 1

NothinButSnow ski instructor course week 1

The first time I woke up earlier than my alarm – the day I depart on a trip of a lifetime!

It was Tuesday 10th January, I came to the airport anxiously approaching a group of strangers. I was welcomed with beaming smiles from Ant and Joey who quickly passed me my NBS goodies! We all quickly got to know a bit about each other as we could all bond over similar subjects such as snowboarding, skiing and what our exciting future holds!

After arriving late, all very tired, we woke up on the Wednesday eager to get outside in the snow! We all met up around 10am and were given a full tour around the village, which looked so beautiful with everything you could need so easily accessible! Finally, we approached and bowed down to “Sam’s” – the pub that was going to be a home from home. After, for the people that didn’t have everything, we got kitted out with boots, skis and poles! We were ready to get stuck in the slopes! We then had a meet and greet with all the instructors of big white and they gave us advice on how to have the most amazing time this season.

Thursday morning was the first day of our lessons, they start at 9:30am and we were all itching to get out there! I was a little nervous, as I hadn’t skied for a while but it all came back after a couple turns! Sam, our instructor was really friendly and told us that for the next 2 days he was just going to get us familiar with the mountain first, which at the same time allowed us to get familiar again with our skis! I was in complete awe of everything around me and couldn’t stop saying “look at that view!” to all my fellow ski group!

We then finished off the week with a group meal out together which was nice to get to know more people better! And getting perhaps tooooo merry in Sam’s later on!!!!
