It’s crazy to think this week kicks off the level 2 ski and snowboard instructor exams. The last 9 weeks of training culminates to one final week of lessons and assessments. Excitement, nerves, worry, it’s all in the air! Monday morning all of the skiers were out on a final days lesson before their 5 day exam which starts on Tuesday. It was a perfect opportunity to cover off any last minute questions and settle any nerves. The snowboarders have the luxury of only a 4 day exam so Monday was a lesson for them also to cover off anything they wished with Tuesday being a day off snow.
Tuesday morning roles in and the skiers meet at the VCM for an early start. Registration was at 8:30 followed by the opportunity to complete some warm up runs. A quick coffee for an energy hit and they were off embarking on a challenging 5 day assessment that will put them through their paces. Demonstrating various skiing techniques, adaptive terrain, teaching and safety. A daunting feat for any skier, but our guys and girls have been fully prepared. They have received all the training, proved their ability and demonstrated improvement during their entire training. We wished them all the best and they set off to smash this exam!
For the snowboarders Tuesday was a well deserved day off. The perfect opportunity to rest the legs before their exam. Meeting early Wednesday morning for the snowboard exam registration the guys eagerly completed their registration paper work and headed out early, on snow by 8:15! The remainder of the week flew by quicker than any other and before we knew it, it was Saturday afternoon, results time!
Meeting at a house within the main village the group waited excitedly for their results, one by one for the snowboards then one by one for the skiers the results came in. Pass…..pass…..pass…..pass a clean sweep. Not a single fail, to say we wasn’t chuffed would be an understatement! Amazing!
The evening followed by a celebratory meal at Snowshoe Sam’s and a well deserved drink up. Beaming smiles all round for one entire night of celebrations!
